Nashville has long been a city built on collaboration, and nowhere is that spirit more alive than in Old Oak Embassy, the brand-new rock collective founded in 2025 by multi-genre artist, songwriter, and producer Christopher Foust. Today, the group officially unveils its debut single, “Flags,” a crushing track that fuses the grit of hard rock with the industrial edge of modern metal.
“Flags” lands sonically somewhere between Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, and Nine Inch Nails, balancing massive riffs with haunting melodies and a rhythm section that hits like a freight train. Produced by Nashville bassist, songwriter, and producer Chris Utley, the track showcases the city’s deep well of rock talent. The lineup for this debut release features Foust on vocals and rhythm guitar, Utley on bass, Skip Black on lead guitar, and Skyler Black on drums. Together, the four co-wrote the song, with Utley helming production.
For Foust, Old Oak Embassy is the culmination of years of experience across genres. Known for his versatility, he has released music under several projects—hard rock and metal with FOUST, country and southern rock under his own name, dark pop and EDM as The Ohio Valley Panic, and pop-rock with Majestic Swayzee—while also fronting the touring rock band Blackwater James. With Old Oak Embassy, Foust taps into his heavier instincts, while building a platform for collaboration with some of Nashville’s best musicians and songwriters.
The single’s lyrical weight is matched by its sound: urgent, aggressive, and unapologetic. “Flags” marks the beginning of Old Oak Embassy’s mission—to create music that is raw, heavy, and full of soul, while pulling from the diverse backgrounds of its contributors.
With “Flags” now available on all streaming platforms, Old Oak Embassy is planting its own flag in the modern rock landscape. For fans of hard-hitting, emotionally charged rock music, this is only the beginning.
Listen to “Flags” on Spotify, Apple Music, and all major platforms on September 7, 2025.
